13 total, accomplished in graphite and colored pencil on leaves of 12 in. x 18 in. artist’s vellum and taped to 15 in. x 20 in. illustration board. Illustrated in a duotone of colored pencil are these production story boards for Pet of the Met authored by the late Lydia and Don Freeman. They were rendered by John Datu Arensma for production of a replacement animation feature of the timeless, and still in-print children's classic from 1953. The story is about a white mouse who works as a page turner at the Metropolitan Opera House has only one enemy, a cat, but during a performance of The Magic Flute, something incredible happens. Arensma was an art director who worked on many projects including the western, Red River (1948), starring John Wayne. He was employed by the Nassour Studios during the 1950s. This project was never produced, however, the quality of his artwork speaks for itself.
