Three have wood shafts, while the fourth is of bone. The bone shaft has a plain wooden thumb hook attached. Since much of the cord in this lashing is recent, it is probably a modern assembly. Two of the wood shafts have bone thumb hooks, one shaped like a saddle horn and the other with three addorsed standing figures done in considerable detail and enhanced with pigment (these figures have recently been reattached, and a conservator's report is available with the lot). The cord lashing both bone hooks is in considerable part old, and still retains resinous infusions. The fourth, wooden-shafted thrower has a wooden thumb hook of simplified head form and a dart hook of bronze in the form of a schematic reclining figure. This latter is heavily corroded and is secured by a plant bast lashing, parts of which still adhere. This group is of historical interest, though one must preserve caution about the degrees of reassembly.

Provenance
Arte Textil, San Francisco (Steve Berger)

Important not
