Persian Model 49 Bolt Action Carbine with Inscribed Presentation Plaque, Case, and a Signed Copy of the Autobiography of the Imperial Princess of Iran

All markings and serial number in Farsi, with wood display case, bayonet & scabbard, leather sling, test target, small flag, signed book (Faces in a Mirror), blade front and Farsi-numbered tangent rear sights, with the Persian seal on top of the receiver ring and standard markings on the left side of the receiver. On the right side of the smooth pistol grip stock is a nickel finished plate with a three-line inscription. The consignor supplied translation states that it is from Iranian Imperial Army to a Captain "Johnson" (phonetic translation), an assistant military attache at the American Embassy. Included with the carbine is a hardwood transport case, a matching numbered bayonet (21 inches overall, 15 3/4 inch blade) with sheath, brown leather sling, and a set of items related to a speech given by Ashraf Pahlavi, twin sister of the deposed Shah of Iran, to the Association of the United States Army at Edison, New Jersey on March 20, 1981. The speech was highly critical of the Carter Administration's handling of the Iranian Revolution, and declared a restoration of constitutional monarchy as the only valid alternative to a Soviet dominated Iran. The items included two programs from the speech, copies of the pamphlet "The Khomeini Revolution: Myths and Realities", a newspaper clipping reporting on the speech, and a copy of Pahlavi's autobiography "Faces in a Mirror" signed by the author and dated 20 March 1981 and bayonet matching to carbine. The eldest member of the Pahlavi Dynasty, she has gone into relative seclusion since 1981.

Excellent, with 98% of the original blue finish, showing some light spotting on the barrel and minor handling marks overall. The stock is excellent, with some minor dents. The case is very good, with some light wear on the inner lining. Bayonet is good, with a thin crack on the left grip panel, and the sling shows mild wear. The papers are in fair or better condition overall, with a few tears on the smaller items. Mechanically excellent.
