Period engraved Colt Civilian Model SAA revolver, .45 cal., 4-3/4” barrel, nickel finish, period ivory grips, #78282, accompanied by factory letter confirming caliber and barrel length, indicating shipped “Soft” (meaning without final finishingfor engraving outside the factory), stocks “Not Listed”, shipped to Schoverling, Daly & Gales, New York, NY on March 15, 1882, 3 guns in shipment. This gun is in overall very good + condition showing considerable nickel finish remaining,crisp action, very good bore, matching visible numbers, finely accomplished engraving, beautiful mellow ivory grips with age cracking in butt area; a great example of a New York style engraved SAA done in the early 1880’s.
