Manufactured in 1901. The Model 1894 rifle features a special order half octagon barrel and checkered wood with pistol grip stock, with a crescent buttplate. The receiver, sides of the forend cap, and lever are engraved with floral scroll designs with a matte background. Aforementioned parts as well as the buttplate is nickel plated, the barrel, magazine tube are blue, and the hammer is casehardened. According to the copy of the accompanying Winchester letter, the rifle was received in and shipped out of the warehouse on March 4, 1904, a new receiver was sent out, plated and engraved by customer, and on June 25th, 1904, the receiver returned and the rifle was assembled. Features were verified as rifle, 30 caliber, 1/2 octagon barrel, plain trigger, 1/2 magazine, plain pistol grip, checkered, buttplate, Lyman rear cup and combination front sights, lever plated at the factory and then shipped on June 27, 1904. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight slot is marked with the two line address, nickel steel marking on the left upper rear flat and "30 W.C.F." on top at the breech. The tang mounted peep sight is covering the marking and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver.
