Well-regarded Australian-born pianist, conductor, and composer (1882–1961) best known for his folk settings and colorfully experimental works. ALS, one page both sides, 5.5 x 8.5, April 20, 1959. Letter to Mr. Heinsheimer regarding upcoming recordings. In part: “I have just heard from Frederick Fennell who is soon to record the following of my pieces on a double-sided record (orchestra). County Gardens, Handel in the Strand, Mock Morris, Irish Tune from Co. Derry, Molly on the Shore, Spoon River, Children’s March…Shepherd’s Hey…Colonial Song, (perhaps) Early One Morning. And on May 4th his Wind Ensemble will record Hill-Song No. 2.” In fine condition. Grainger is scarce in letters, even more so directly discussing his own works.
