Percussion plains rifle circa 1840’s to 50’s, marked Wurflein inside patchbox and remnant of Philadelphia on lock. The rifle measures 47-1/2” overall with 32” medium to heavy weight octagon barrel of .40 caliber rifled. The barrel and lock show a heavy and dark brown to black patina finish with light to heavy scattered pitting and erosion. There is some light cleaning around the lock, otherwise totally uncleaned. The stocks are good with even weathering, wear, and darkening. The brass patchbox, buttplate, and triggerguard, are a very dark patina, and may have been plated at one time. The triggers are working, the rifle has seen exposure to the elements and been carried a long way and was found in Texas. Est: $400 - 800
