Percussion full-stocked rifle, lock plate marked “Taylor” with feather engraving at rear of lock plate, .64 cal., 34-1/2” octagon barrel, brown patina finish, wood stock showing considerable old red paint. This gun is in overall worn but good condition showing a heavy dark patina to the unmarked barrel with some scattered areas of erosion and light to moderate pitting around the firing area; the action is good, the bore dark, the stock has a brass patchbox, brass butt plate, brass fore end tip and brass ramrod ferrules. The old paint remains on approx. 70% of the wood with classic wear in the carry areas; some scattered nicks, mars, scratches and a couple old cracks including a repaired old crack at the wrist that has been strongly corrected some time ago with two old iron screws. This is exactly the type of gun that went West and easily could have been owned by a settler or an Indian. Est.: $1,000-$1,500.
