Percussion dueling/target pistol signed “J.H. Happoldt, Charleston South Carolina” on lock. .45 caliber smoothbore. Medium to heavyweight barrel, measuring 7/8” across barrel flats. Octagon is 8-3/4” in length 15-3/8” overall. Brown patina finish with traces of original brown on barrel and traces of good strong case hardening on lock. Simple iron triggerguard, single set trigger, silver barrel key escutcheons and silver shield at wrist. Pistol is nicely stocked in select walnut.
