Percussion double S x S half stocked rifle, .45 cal., 32-3/4” octagon barrels, brown and case hardened finish, wood stock with patchbox, double set triggers, back action locks, barrel marked “J. Ogden, Owego, N.Y.” and retaining a seldom foundoriginal leather lock cover. This gun is in overall very good condition showing an even browning to the barrels and slight traces of case color on the lock plates and hammers; good action with set triggers working at time of description;brass trigger guard, patchbox, butt plate and inlaid American Eagle on the left side of the butt stock; blade front sights, pewter fore end tip, overall good + stock with a pleasing patina and some scattered nicks and mars from carry andstorage; one old crack at the bottom toe of the butt stock. The formed leather lock cover is in overall good condition with some wear and two scuff spots but quite rare and as previously noted, seldom found with antique guns of thisperiod. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
