Percussion Kentucky rifle circa late 1830-early 1850’s, signed on barrel “A *possibly H.W.” but not quite legible. The rifle shows a nicely engraved and pierced patch box with an iron trigger guard andplate which are crude and period replaced. The ram rod thimbles and fore end have also been replaced. The stock has been broken and repaired at the center portion and brake went clear thru. The metal condition is fair to good with some pitting. The barrel measures 38-1/2” and is approx 45 cal rifled. Rifle is 54” overall. The stock is fair as it was broken and refinished with some fill and replaced wood. The action works. Froman old N.Y. collector’s estate. Est.; $350-$700.
