Percussion Enfield Sargenter’s musket with lock marked Potts and Hunt, London. .58 caliber percussion with 32 ½ inch rifled barrel, 48 ½ inches over all, iron mounted, sling swivels, showing large stud on frontbarrel for sabre bayonet. The metal surfaces remain in very good condition with a gray patina and some strong traces of blue on trigger guard. The lock shows faint traces of case hardening drifting to gray. There issome scattered light to moderate erosion and some slightly heavy erosion and pitting around the area of the nipple and a few small places on the barrel. The lock markings are well defined. The stock is good to very goodwith normal dings, mars, scratches and some small losses along the ramrod channel but generally very good over all. There is a small proof marking behind the trigger guard in the letter H with a unusual unidentifiedproof and the number 37. The rifle cocks well and retains original small parts and ramrod. Estimate $800-$1,600.
