Dovetailed brass blade front sight and fixed notch rear, with zig-zag engraving on the top barrel flat, scroll designs on the hammer and on the front and rear of the lock, which is marked "H.E.LEMAN/LANCASTER PA" below the drum-style bolster. Brass tipped stock, with a wooden ramrod, double set triggers, hand rest trigger guard, raised cheekpiece, engraved toe plate and patch box with heart shaped cutout, and a smooth brass buttplate. Consignor notes attribute the overall construction to Henry Gibbs of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, circa 1850-1873.
