This lovely pendulum clock was manufactured in the last quarter of the 20th Century in Shanghai or Tianjin, near Beijing. The one or two week movement with hour and half hour strike on gong spiral is fitted in a brass casing with doors. The white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, minute ring and coloured festoons displays the hour and minute. The clock particularly delights with the column architecture adorned with cloisonné and the enameled short pendulum, featuring a ship depiction.



The clock is inscribed in Chinese and English ‘Made in China’ on a plaque at the back. The clock is in good condition, showing some wear. The casing features little oxidation marks. The crowning cup is slightly loose. The overall dimensions of the clock are 51 x 22 x 18 cm (H x W x D). The clock started running during a short-term test, but long term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed. The clock comes with a winding key. (cko)
