Available for bidding in this lot is a Pendleton - Beaver State, Chief Joseph pattern wool blanket. This blanket features the Chief Joseph pattern - aqua in color on one side, and vibrant red on the other. The Chief Joseph pattern is one of the most iconic patterns in Native American Indian art history. The blanket is manufactured by Pendleton, the "Beaver State" tag originated in 1912 when Pendleton blankets and shawls were sold to the Walla Walla, Cayuse, and Umatilla tribes in the vicinity of Pendleton mill on the Columbia plateau. This blanket is in overall good condition for its age, it has definitely been machine washed and slightly shrunken. The blanket now measures approximately 76 1/2" x 53 1/2".
