This lot includes 6 Pendleton blankets. 1) A 64 x 80 reversible Pendleton blanket, with a black background on one side and a vibrant multicolor background on the other. This fine blanket bears a special tag indicating that it is Number 972 of a Limited Edition of 1000. This is one of the Commemorative Series by Dewey Trading Company called Navajo Trail. 2) A 64 x 80 Chief Joseph pattern blanket on an ivory background. 3) A brand new, still-in-plastic Pendleton Cheyenne Eagle Blanket from The Spirit Series by Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell. 40 x 66. 4) A brand new, still-in-plastic Pendleton 40 x 66 Blackfeet Legend of the Horse saddleblanket from The Spirit Series designed by Blackfeet artist/designer Michael T Gray. This was the first blanket designed for the Spirit Series. 5) A new-in-box Pendleton Day Night blanket, sized 64 x 80. According to the Pendleton website, Professor Arthur Amiotte, a Lakota Sioux, is an internationally exhibiting artist and is widely published on the subject of Native American art. For 25 years he has taught all aspects of native traditional and contemporary studio fine arts. Day and Night Robe is a version of the traditional Beaded Strip Blanket worn by the Northern Plains people. Originally the robes were made of bison hides and decorated with a band of beading and quill work. Later these beaded strips were recycled onto wool blankets and secured with lengths of rainbow selvedge -- colorful trade cloth issued as annuities or treaty payments. During traditional courting, a young Plains man would wrap himself and his beloved in the robe for moments of privacy and conversation. Red and blue halves symbolize exceptionally sacred days (red) and nights (blue), and the blankets are still worn on such occasions. 6) A second new-in-box 64 x 80 Water Blanket inspired by a photograph taken by the famous Edward S. Curtis. The Pendleton website explains, Based on an early 19th-century photograph by Edward S. Curtis, this blanket incorporates classic Navajo elements in an eye-dazzling pattern. The central dragonfly, an emblem of water, symbolizes life. Includes a special hangtag with the legend, inspiration or history behind the blanket. This lot represents a rare opportunity to own gorgeous Pendleton blankets in great or mint condition. Wovoka Collection HKA#63082
