Original Life Preserver Ring from the USS Arizona, used on the Michael Bay directed romantic war drama film 'Pearl Harbor' (2001), which follows two lifelong friends and a beautiful nurse who are caught up in the horror of an infamous Sunday morning in 1941.
Starring Ben Affleck, Kate Beckinsale, Josh Hartnett, Cuba Gooding Jr., Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight, Colm Feore, and Alec Baldwin.
It was nominated for four Academy Awards.
Arizona was moored in Pearl Harbor's "Battleship Row" on the morning of 7 December 1941, when Japanese carrier aircraft attacked. She was hit by several bombs, one of which penetrated her forecastle and detonated her forward ammunition magazines.
Of the 2,341 service members that died on Dec. 7, 1941, almost half died on the USS Arizona, a total of 1,177.
