The carbine has a folding rear sight graduated to 600 yards. A saddle ring stud with ring is mounted to the left side of the receiver. The left side of the receiver is marked "PEABODY'S PAT. / JULY 22. 1862 / MAN'F'D BY / PROVIDENCE TOOL CO. / PROV. R.I." A small "WC" oval company inspection stamp is located on the left wrist. Most components are stamped with single letter inspection marks but the carbine has no visible serial numbers or caliber designations.
