The lot features a fine beaded arrow quiver and two arrows from the Pawnee Native American Indians and dating to circa 1890’s. The piece shows a parfleche rawhide cylindrical shaped construction with Indian tanned hide cover with large sections of traditional geometric 19th century period correct beadwork. The beadwork shows a chalk white background with Cheyenne pink, sky padre blue, cobalt and semi-transparent green. The construction shows both sinew and trade thread sewing with sections of old hide glue likely being used. The original shoulder strap is still intact, showing a rawhide hide braided design. The bottom of the quiver shows a nice section of long hand cut Indian tanned hide fringe, a nice addition to a very fine artful piece. The two arrows show metal arrowheads which are secured with sinew rawhide wrappings along with the original feather fletching and some original mineral ocher painted stripes. Provenance: From the Ex-Collections of Ben Thompson and Tom Hardy. Measures overall 18 inches in length with the arrows being 22 inches.
