Important Russian naval reformer (1767–1849) best known for letting Napoleon slip past his blockade of the Berezina River in November of 1812. ALS in French, signed “Tchitchagoff,” one page, 6.25 x 7.75, April 9, 1823. Untranslated letter to his banker, informing him that he has found a better opportunity to invest his funds with higher profits. In very good condition, with intersecting folds passing through the signature, scattered soiling, and numerous pencil notations to the upper right.
