Paul Wunderlich, Portfolio ‘Lithographien II’, Zurich, 1981
The present portfolio ‘Lithographien II’ was made by the German artist Paul Wunderlich and shows three colour lithographs, titled ‘Madame Récamier’, ‘Torso mit Blume’ and ‘Paar mit Hund’. It was printed on Rives paper in 1981 by ‘Matthieu, Zurich’. Each work has been signed with pencil ‘Wunderlich‘ at the lower right and numbered ‘169/1000‘ at the lower left. The lithograph ‘Madame Récamier‘ was printed with four stones. It was dated ‘1981’ in the stone. The second lithograph ‘Torso mit Blume‘ was printed with three stones, whereas ‘Paar mit Hund‘ is a print made of two stones. This work also shows the signature ‘Wunderlich‘ and the date ‘1981‘ in the stone. It is loosely inserted into the cloth binded portfolio, whereas the other two lithographs are framed under mat in silver-plated frames.

The prints are in a good condition with some traces of use and age. The sheets are clearly browned. The margins of the two framed works partially show brown stains. Only when the passe-partouts are removed, we can see some framing marks and some further inscriptions, written by the framer at the lower right corner. Furthermore, there are some slight yellowish spots visible underneath the breast of ‘Madame Récamier‘. Each lithograph measures 60 cm in height and 48 cm in width. The images measure each 51 cm in height and 41.5 cm in width. The cloth binding shows some traces of use, so do the two silver plated frames. They measure 64.5 cm in height and 54 cm in width.
