The portfolio with three lithographs in colors was published in 1981 by Edition Huber in Offenbach and was printed at Matthieu in Switzerland. The three sheets are titled ‘Adam und Eva’ (Riediger 669), ‘Im Türkischen Bad’ (Riediger 670) and ‘Straßenszene’ (Riediger 672). They are very fine and typical figural compositions of German artist.



The three lithographs in colors are each signed lower right in pencil ‘Wunderlich’ and numbered lower left in pencil „633/1000“. Together with the typographic title page they are contained in a blue cloth portfolio. There are small remains of old hinging in the reverse upper corners which slightly show through on recto. One sheet bears additionally slight skinning. The sheets are in good condition. The portfolio shows slight signs of wear. The images measure each around 50.9 x 41.7 cm, the sheets 60.2 x 48.2 cm. The portfolio dimensions are 62.2 x 48.5 cm.



Paul Wunderlich (1927-2010)

Paul Wunderlich, a German painter, sculptor and printmaker predominantly depicted erotic figures. In 1947 he began his printmaking-studies at the Hamburg School of Art under Willi Tietze and Willem Grimm. After his studies he worked there as a lecturer and later as a professor, too. During this time he also printed for other artists, for example for Emil Nolde and Oskar Kokoschka. Wunderlich was awarded numerous prizes during his lifetime. (fea)
