Born Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini in Italy in 1897, Paul VI reigned as pope from 1963 until his death in 1978. Attractive hand-calligraphed Apostolic blessing, in Dutch, signed at the bottom, “Paulus PP. VI,” 3.5 x 5.25, dated August 12, 1969. Very attractive blessing is highlighted by colorful floral borders and a circular portrait of the Pope to top right. In fine condition, with light rippling, small area of staining over end of signature, and a light blind embossed stamp to lower left.
