This attractive storage jug comes from Paul Storie Pottery in Marshall, Texas. It is hand-made and hand-decorated with a flow blue, cobalt type of glaze on a deep cream-colored stoneware background. The Paul Storie Pottery was established in 1981 in Marshall, Texas. Its product niche is food-usable stoneware in a range of items for serving and storing food.

This jug is in a traditional stoneware storage jug shape. It shows a naive style of rural landscape scene: a field with birds flying off in the distance backed by a far-off mountain. This design is on the front only.

The jug is 7 1/2 inches tall and 4 3/4 inches wide: it is 3 inches from the edge of the lip to the end of the loop handle. It is 1 1/2 inches across the top and 3 1/2 inches at the base. It is marked with the straight-line "PAUL STORIE POTTERY CO./MARSHALL, TX" on the bottom (the first part of this did not "take" on the initial stamping!)

Although very similar to Item PO-351106, this item may have been one of the first made by the pottery at an early 1980s vintage: it appears older than the canisters in the other item, and its design has been painted by a different artist. Although its glaze has one or two uneven areas, the jug is in very good to excellent condition!
