African-American singer, actor, and social activist (1898–1976) best known for his roles in The Emperor Jones and Showboat. Playbill from the Sam S. Schubert Theatre’s 1943 presaentation of Othello, 6.5 x 9, 36 pages. Signed on the front cover in fountain pen, “All best wishes, Paul Robeson,” and also signed by Jose Ferrer, Uta Hagen, and James Monks. Light contrast to Robeson’s signature, some scattered light soiling to cover, and mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition. Hagen, Ferrer’s wife, had a notorious affair with Robeson.
