DS, signed “Paul L. Newman,” one page, 8.5 x 11, no date but circa 1970. In part: "The undersigned understands that Mr. George Roy Hill has donated to Yale University the documentary film, 'The Making of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,' and that the purpose of this contribution, including the use of the film and revenue which may accrue from its use, is for educational purposes, to advance the program of film studies at Yale University." The document is marked "Copy" at the top, but has been authentically signed in blue ballpoint by Newman. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original letter on the subject sent to Newman by Howard S. Weaver, dean of the Yale University School of Art, dated February 20, 1970.

Directed by George Roy Hill, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid has been recognized as one of the greatest American films of the 20th century. A graduate of Yale, Hill donated his entire collection of production materials to the university shortly after the film's completion, in addition to the film itself and the documentary chronicling its creation. A desirable document pertaining to one of Newman's classic movies.
