Fantastic TLS signed “Paul,” one page, 7 x 9.75, personal letterhead, January 19, 2011. Letter to country music icon Merle Haggard, in full: "Just a note to say how much fun Nancy and I had at the Kennedy Center Honors and how much we enjoyed hanging with you and Theresa. I thought they did a great job and I really enjoyed hearing the interpretations of your songs on the night. All the best to you and yours. Keep rocking." McCartney adds a small smiley face sketch at the conclusion and places his letterhead surname in parentheses. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelopes and a letter of authenticity from Perry Cox.

On December 5, 2010, the 33rd annual Kennedy Center Honors gave tributes to McCartney, Haggard, Oprah Winfrey, composer and lyricist Jerry Herman, and dancer, choreographer, and director Bill T. Jones. McCartney was originally selected as an honoree in 2002, but he was unable to attend and his tribute was ultimately postponed until 2010. Several songs of McCartney and Haggard were performed by popular music stars like Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Dave Grohl, No Doubt, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Miranda Lambert, James Taylor, and Steven Tyler. A wonderful letter connecting a pair of song-writing legends.
