Handwritten notes in pencil, unsigned, two pages, 5 x 5.5 and 5 x 7.5, [October 9, 1985]. Notes written by McCartney while shooting the music video for ‘Spies Like Us,’ consisting of several lyrical lines and words, for example, “Spies like us—bus stop / Sneaking in the halls / listening in to the walls” and “Wooh… yeah yeah / oh yeah… / like us like us / aint no fuss.” In very good condition, with overall toning, and tears and paper loss to edges. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and a letter of provenance from the original recipient, a crew member from the shoot which took place at Abbey Road Studios, London, on October 9, 1985. In part: “During the spring of 1985 I was working on the Warner Bros. production Spies Like Us…Several months after the completion of principal photography I was also working with the Paul Weiland Film Company as the clapper loader on the film’s promotional video…With regard to the working jottings, these were taken from my clapper loader’s notebook, in which I recorded details of the footage…Mr. McCartney asked if he could borrow a couple of pages from my notebook to make some notes, which I was of course more than happy to provide; I retrieved the two pages at the end of the day for a souvenir.” Superb provenance for these much desired handwritten lyrics from the Beatles frontman.
