Paul Lehr - SF Book Cover Comprehensive Painting Original Art (undated). Paul Lehr studied under famed illustrator, Stanley Meltzoff, at the Pratt Institute; Meltzoff greatly influenced Paul's style, and the two briefly shared a studio for a period of time. Paul's work dominated the SF paperback field from the mid-1960s through the early 1970s, providing covers for authors such as Harry Harrison, Philip K. Dick, H.G.Wells, Clifford Simak and John Brunner. Paul won Analog awards in 1979 and 1980, and was nominated for Hugo Awards as "Best Professional Artist" in 1980 and 1981. Fellow SF artist Vincent DiFate once enthused, "Paul Lehr has established himself as one of the most original talents in the field."The tightly rendered "comprehensive" cover painting offered here has an image area of 4.5" x 7.5", and is in Excellent condition. From the collection of Richard and Wendy Pini. Richard says: "Another example of an image that, when I saw it for sale, simply said to me 'This is strange and wonderful, and you want it.' I learned later that the artist had a long and colorful tenure in science fiction illustration, a happy discovery to come out of a purely spur-of-the-moment acquisition."
