Paul L. Dunbar, TLS,
Paul L. Dunbar, TLS,<p>Dayton, Ohio (140 Zeigler St.), 21 June 1896. Letter is framed under glass, 4.25 x 7" visible. The letter is to a Mr. L. D. Stubbs of Richmond, IN, in which Dunbar notes that he inadvertently left a book there. He writes that he had enclosed postage for its return, and goes on to say that "...if you care to keep it, one dollar sent to my address makes the book yours." Since this letter was written in 1896, it is possible that the book in question is "Majors & Minors," which Dunbar published privately in 1895. This and his earlier "Oak & Ivy" he sold for $1 each to recover publishing costs. Sometime in 1896, Dodd Mead and Co. combined the 2 earlier volumes and published it as "Lyrics of a Lowly Life."<p>Usual folds, some wrinkles apparent on left edge. Minor toning. Not removed from frame for examination.
