Important Swiss-German artist (1879–1940) whose works incorporate a number of the most influential movements of the day, including Surrealism, Expressionism, and Cubism. ALS in German, signed “P. Klee,” one page, 5.75 x 8.5, October 3, 1910. Klee writes to art collector Marie von Sinner. In full (loosely translated): “I am sorry that I couldn’t accept your invitation as I just received your ticket this morning, Monday. Otherwise I would have tried to convince you to come visit me.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Klee’s hand. Scattered light creasing, a bit heavier along top, a paperclip impression to top, and a pencil notation to lower portion, otherwise fine condition.
