His cinemagraphic approach to imagery and panel layouts made him a worthy successor to Jim Steranko, who had all but disappeared from the comic industry. Over the years, Gulacy's art has retained the elements that define his style while, at the same time, managing to become more polished. His figures fairly seethe with kinetic energy that explode without the action lines that other artists use to convey movement. This is an exciting image that is filled with the detail and dramatic emotive quality that are staples of a Gulacy work of art. This cover was produced on a piece of DC illustration paper (Gulacy was doing work for DC at the same time) that measures approximately 11.25" x 16.5". <B>Estimate: $800-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
