Cf. Charles Allix, Carriage Clocks, Their History and Development (1981), p. 62, pl. II/30 & p. 63, pl. II/31. The author notes that a date attribution is difficult with clocks of this type where the clock is marked 'Her Du Roi' as this would have been unlikely during the period of the Second Empire (1852-1870), but this is perhaps the period we might have expected it to have been made.
