Paul Bach (1886-1919), Oil Painting, Flower Still Life, 1913
The present painting by Paul Bach (1886-1919) was created in 1913 and depicts a still life with autumn flowers presented in a bulbous vase on a draped tablecloth. A lush arrangement of asters, lupines and delphiniums is rendered in bright colors against an indistinct background. The leaves and blossoms are with an impasto paint application and vigorous brushwork. Paul Bach has created several floral still lifes of this kind, which feature – although his brisk brushwork - a fine aesthetic impression.

The painting is in good condition. There is age-related craquelure, which does not disturb the overall aesthetic. There are four backed tears to the canvas, which are not visible on the front. The work is signed ‘P. Bach’ and dated ‘… 13’ lower left. The frame shows some wear. The framed work measures 92 x 69 cm, the stretcher frame measures 72.5 x 50 cm.
