Nice example. Taken by Warren's Studio of Boston under the superintendence of Mr. S. B. Heald. Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore (1829–1892) was an Irish-born American bandleader, composer, and impresario who played a central role in shaping the modern American concert band. A virtuoso cornetist, he led the Boston Brigade Band during the Civil War and later organized massive musical events such as the National Peace Jubilee (1869) and World’s Peace Jubilee (1872). His popular compositions include "When Johnny Comes Marching Home." Gilmore’s innovations in large-scale band performance and touring laid the groundwork for later figures like John Philip Sousa.
