Rare stage pass for this company that organized in 1889. Low No. 4, issued for 1895 to Col. G.G. Green, president of Hotel Green Company. This was one of the biggest hotels in Pasadena. Most of it is still standing. Signed by C.S. Martin, president and William R. Staats as secretary. Printed on cardstock with some wear. In 1889, Harvard setup a 13" telescope on top of Mt. Wilson. Getting the telescope up there proved the necessity of a well-developed road. Martin owned a camp on Mt. Wilson, and saw the possibility of future tourism, even after the telescope was removed in 1891. (The Mount Wilson Observatory wasn't built until 1903-1908). It continued to be a popular summer camp destination. A 9 mile trail (4-8 ft. wide) was completed in 1890 and made into a toll road.
