Arctic Bibl. 13145. First edition of the narrative of what was possibly the most successful arctic voyage ever made, at least in terms of accomplishment in relation to the period. It was also the first to purposely winter in the Arctic, and set the stage for continued British activity in the western Arctic. After the failure of John Ross' voyage two years earlier, Parry was hailed as a hero, and generated much public interest on his return. John Murray paid Parry a thousand guineas for this narrative - a small fortune at the time.
