Parker GHE-grade 28ga double-barrel shotgun, 26” barrels, auto ejectors, double triggers, in very good plus original condition, serial number “1776320”. The barrels show 85-95% original blue, there is one area of thumb-size pitting and erosion, approx. 13” back from muzzle of the left outside edge, otherwise barrel blue is near fine. The rib is marked “Parker special steel”, the inside bottom of breech is marked “JG” in a circle and “27” on left barrel, the right barrel is marked “P.S.”, “2”, “1” and “1”. The lug is marked “28” and “00” indicating light weight small frame. The frame shows 40-60% original case hardening, drifting to silver with some bright case colors on the back half and top of action and bottom of frame near trigger guard. The frame shows classic light scroll and panel engraving. The trigger guard shows 30-40% thinning original blue. The stocks are very good plus and original, also showing fairly sharp checkering. About 50-60% thinning original varnish, even carry and opening to grain, wood is generally very good overall. The original Parker grip cap is retained and owner’s plaque (probably the original) is inscribed with four fancy initials. The stock is its full original length and retains hard rubber Parker butt plate. The action is tight, bores are near excellent. Factory original 28ga Parkers are very desirable and a low production item. This is a very good example in exceptional condition other than the mentioned finger-print sized blemish on left barrel. Old note attached indicates “Right barrel .008 improved cylinder, right barrel, .014 modified. Manufactured 1916.” Est.:$15,000-$30,000
