Relié par Marius Michel : plein maroquin vert foncé, plats sertis de filets dorés avec fins fleurons d'angles à motif floral stylisé, dos à nerfs et caissons finement fleuronnés dorés, bordures ornées de roulettes et filets dorés, tranches dorées sur témoins, couv. noire illustrée en 1re et 4e page de compositions de Vidal reprises à l'ouvrage cons. Sous étui.
Description illustrée de 30 petits métiers de la rue à Paris, aujourd'hui quasi tous disparus : la marchande de "plaisirs" (gâteau aussi nommé "oublie"), le chèvrier, le chanteur dans les cours, le vendeur de petits chiens, le tondeur de chiens, le marchand de coco, le ramasseur de bouts de cigares, l'aboyeur de voitures... et l'inattendu "donneur de coup de main" qui, par un joli raccourci, est "sans profession... tout comme le rentier !", soit 1 frontispice et 30 illustrations de Pierre Vidal aquarellées à pleine page (2 reprises sur la couverture).
Edition originale des notices dues en grande partie à quelques membres bien-pensants de la Société des Amis du Livre (liste in fine, pp. 125-132) dont Henry Spencer Ashbee, Jules Claretie, Henry Houssaye, Eugène Paillet (Président du Comité de la société et conseiller à la Cour de Paris), baron Roger Portalis, Eugène Rodrigues (avocat).
Tirage limité à 120 ex. num., un des ex. non réservés ou offerts aux Amis du Livre (n° 97).

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.
Goods will be send only after customers’ payment.
Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.
Books whose price exceed 100 (EUR) will be send by registered post.
Payment Details:
Payment will be made in Belgian Francs. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 (EUR) or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Ero's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
