A Most Beautiful, and Most Unusual Cabaret Set, a Small Tea Pot, Small Creamer and Sugar on a Matching Tray, From Paris Porcelain, Circa 1855 to 1860. Though there is a "Sevres" mark on the back of the Tray, I am almost Certain that it was made by Paris Porcelain. Made of Soft Paste Porcelain, with a Base color of Cerulean Blue, and decorated in the reserves with Figures in Court Costume, reminiscent of the paintings of Fragonard and Watteau. The Wild and Outrageous handles are most unusual for a piece of this date, and are actually a precursor to the Arte Nouveau Style, with it's Swirling and Animated Leaves and Vines for handles. A few years back at an Antiques Shop in New York City, I found a Cup and Saucer that 'matched' the set, so I grabbed it up, hoping to find others, well, that was over forty years ago, and I have not seen another one.... So, I guess the set can now be called a "Solitaire" or Tea Service for One. Yes, I'm throwing in the Tea Cup too! All one Price!
