Period vellum copy of a papal brief issued by Pope Pius V. Manuscript contains the Pope's brief, granting a monastery exemption from tithes formerly due by the monastery from work, farmland and animals. Latin language document begins in small part, ''Brief from Pius V to the prioress and sisters of the Monastery of Blessed Ludwig of Poissy (Le prieure royal de Saint-Louis de Poissy) in the diocese of Chartres, which is under the care of the Friars of the Dominican Order...'' This copy does not have the Papal watermark and is likely a copy made by the monastery or a town, for the historical record. Runs 8pp. on 4 sheets of thin vellum, measuring 8.25 x 11'' and bound on the left side. Toning, otherwise near fine given age.
