Featured in this lot is this pair of Papago Tohono O'odham bear grass or Yucca baskets circa 1950's. The basket feature wonderfully and professionally crafted bear grass or Yucca construction that features one smaller and one that is a tray they both feature tight weave to the weft of the baskets the smaller basket shows a zig zag design to the decoration along the inside and outside walling of the basket, and the try features a large geometric pattern decorating and shows the rim of the basket decorated with darker dyed material in a zig zagging pattern and features handles on either side of the tray. The Tohono O'odham or Papago are a Native American people of the Sonoran Desert, residing primarily in the U.S. state of Arizona and the northern Mexican state of Sonora. The federally recognized tribe is known in the United States as the Tohono O'odham Nation. The condition of this pair of baskets is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of these baskets are 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" for the smaller basket and 1 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 9 1/4".
