The lot features a nice woven basket flat from the Papago Native American Indians and dating to circa 1940-1950’s. The Papago Tohono O'odham (People of the Desert), are located in Arizona and are known for their weaving skill. The piece shows a geometric pattern with nice tight weaving of yucca and bear grass in very good well-preserved condition. The piece comes with the original trading post tag marked,” Papago Indian Self-Help Program / Box 277 / Sells Arizona Made By Josephine Chico At Bigfield” along with the back being marked. The basket measures 6 1/2" in diameter by 3" tall with the hot pad measuring 6 1/4" in diameter.
