Panamint Fighting Knife, by John Nelson Cooper (1906-1987), 7'' clip-point blade, 11-1/2'' overall, chocolate brown quilted micarta handle with triple brass accents, brass pommel, and brass halfguard. Left side of blade at ricasso marked with Cooper eagle logo; left side factory engraved original owner's initials (HAN); in original multi-pieced brown leather sheath. Original receipt, dated August 1973, is included from Cooper Knives, Burbank, CA, for shipment February 1974. John Nelson Cooper mfg'd custom handmade knives from 1924 to 1981. Condition is excellent with just the slightest mellowing to brass accents and minor darkening from age to leather sheath, with some thinning to the brown tanning at retention strap. Interior female snap has gone missing from verdigris buildup over time, but appears to be a standard piece of hardware that can be easily replaced. Est.: $750-$1,000.
