1870, New York. Stock certificate for 5 shares. Black with an orange imprinted revenue at center. Signed as Secretary by James F. Joy (1810-1896), a lawyer and railroad builder who owned the Michigan Central Railroad. He bought many Chicago area railroads and controlled a large portion of Midwestern lines. Red pen and small punch cancellations with the latter lightly affecting Joy's signature. Fine.
