The Pan-American Expo was held in Buffalo in 1901. It was a poorly attended fair until some nut case shot President McKinley. After the President's death, the fair became a popular destination. This unusual 5.25" long sterling silver spoon commemorates this event. The front of the handle has an Indian, Niagara Falls, corn, and a hand that holds the pan shaped bowl of the spoon. The back has a buffalo and says Pan-American Exposition 1901, and the back of the hand and the pan handle. The spout on the left hand side of the pan may be a later "addition", but this spoon is otherwise in excellent condition.
