Pair of percussion large bore belt pistols signed “D. Egg. London” on the top of the barrels (Note: W. Ellis is marked on the bottom of the barrels who was probably the actual maker and the Egg name was period counterfeited to gain a higher priceprobably when sold aboard to the unsuspecting colonies). The case is oversized. The pistol’s measure 10” overall with 5” barrels of approximately .52 caliber smoothbore with attached swivel ramrod’s. The pair are triple gold bandedat the breech and nicely engraved and show an English quality restoration possibly during period of use. The condition is near fine overall as restored. The interior of the case shows some minor wear at the contact points, slight fadingand fraying and the case appears to have been originally made for this pair of pistols even though it is a dueling pistol size. A flask, rod, mold, nipple wrench and three compartment covers are included. The exterior of the case shows abrass carrying handle and is good with one large crack and just normal aging. A very attractive set with beautifully striped brown barrels and they may have been restored during their period of use. Out of an old southern collection where they were
