Pair of percussion belt pistols of unusual style and form. .46 caliber rifled octagon barrels, cast alloyed metal stocks that are hand-engraved with saw-handled grips, bright color case-hardened barrels, in original case with accessories. British proofed. This pair, although unsigned, show English quality with scroll-engraving, blued belt hooks, octagon barrels, and engraved and lightly blued hammers. The barrels of each pistol show 85 – 95% bright and fiery case-hardened colors that are still fairly vibrant just starting to age and fade very slightly. The alloyed metal frames are crisp with sharp engraving. The hammers are also crisp with nice engraving and traces of their original blue. The pair are contained within their original to-the-period French style fitted case lined in purple velveteen that has faded slightly to a brownish color. The interior of the case is good to very good with indentations, noted fading, minor wear, normal age. The case contains its original mold, flask, rod, barrel removal tool, and compartment cover. The tools are in good to very good condition, the flask is very good plus and marked “Sykes”. The barrel removal tool shows some edge wear from use. The exterior of the case is a standard walnut with brass plate and plaque. The exterior of the case is very good with some scratching. A very unusual and extraordinarily attractive set due to the case-hardened barrels. Est.: $2,500 - $5,000.
