Pair of original flintlock officer’s pistols signed “Boutet, Directeur Artist” on barrels and “Manuf. a Versailles” on locks. The pair measure approx. 14-1/4” overall, with 8-1/2” flared octagon barrels that are swamped at the muzzles and are .54 caliber smoothbore. The pair are full-stocked with nicely checkered grips, show plain steel mounts, engraved with fancy intertwined initials which appear to be TJB or JB on butts. The barrels show three small maker’s proof marks: CB, NB, and LC. The barrels show gold banding at breech and muzzle and gold maker’s marks. The pair show finely engraved screwheads and escutcheons and otherwise the metal is plain. We would identify them as officer’s type. The barrels show 80-90% thinning original blue finish, some slight erosion and pinprick pitting, beginning age, some erosion around the touch holes. The locks and mount show their original bright finish, dried oil and staining, but absolutely no cleaning. The pair are in their original flintlock configuration with correct hammers, small parts, springs, and the locks show fine detail work on the screws and springs, which shows Boutet quality. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. International buyers agree to pay all cost incurred including all shipping, insurance, exporter fees, all custom and duty fees associated with shipment. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
