Pair of massive bore pinfire Howdah pistols in fine to excellent condition French cased with accessories. The under lever pistols measure approximately 14 ¼” overall with 7 5/8” octagon barrels of approximately 70 caliber smoothbore.The barrels show a bright tobacco brown finish with Damascus pattern and the mounts are satin gray case hardened. The pistols are stocked in a select walnut and nicely varnished. The mounts are European style scroll engraved as are the lockplates, frame, and mountings. The pistol remain in fine to excellent original condition with 95% to 98% plus bright original brown finish and case hardening showing just a very slight amount of aging. The stocks show a few scratches and minorstorage marks and are also near excellent. The pair are cased within their original to the period French style fitted case with correct mold for the massive sized ball, powder flask, pinfire sizing tool (2 piece made of wood). The exteriorof the case is veneered Rosewood with brass mountings and in very good condition with some minor cracks, slight discoloration and normal aging.
